Bike Ride
Weekend started as usual, woke up late @ 8.40AM (comparatively a bit early). And after half an hours time I was riding my new bike to Kunigal - my first ride out of town. That was great, cool breeze whizzing in the gaps of the helmet. I was restricted to go under 50 KMph since its a new one. After starting at 9.15 from Bangalore, reached home exactly taking 100 mins to cover 70 KMs.
Riding back to Bangalore on Sunday afternoon was much more enjoyable. Took 10 mins less time than yesterday.
Riding on NH48 (Bangalore - Mangalore highway) is like heaven - enjoyed to the full extent.
Rajajinagara Habba a.k.a. Jaanapada Jaatre
Reached Bangalore by 4.30 PM and the hoarding near the house were calling me for 'Rajajinagara habba' a.k.a. 'Janapada Jaatre'. Went there for a walk with my colleague, Adarsh. The second day of Six day festival was at its peak. Being a holiday, the place was totally crowded and I guess there were more than 10,000 people over there.
Y'day it was 'Haadu-habba' - the evening was dedicated for folk songs. Ello jogappa ninnaramane, Guruve ninnatava ballavaraaru, Chellidaru malligeya etc. were soothing and people there were enjoying the feast. I could see people, even elders (aged more than 60 or so) dancing for the songs. For the song 'Chellidaru malligeya', more than 25% of the spectators were dancing and the remaining were at least tapping for the beats. It was like going back to the past - and even I remembered the day when I had danced for the same song on a stage - for a school competition, when I was in 6th standard (that was 13-14 years back).
And I forgot to mention the main attraction. As the feast of songs started, there was this bicycle stunts by
Mr. J. Nagaraj. During his performance came the song from the main stage, "Guruve ninnaatava ballavaraaro, Shivane ninnaatava ballavaraaro" (Translated to English - 'Oh Lord, who can predict/know your moves in life...). Our hero Nagaraj started dancing on the bicycle iteslf to the tune of the song.
It was a weekend full of joy, fun, fest/mela, songs et al... Pity, I forgot to carry camera on both occasions :(
